Enfolded fellowships

This rule is likely to change before you could do it anyways. Overall CAST is trying to get rid of enfolded fellowships and it’s not going to take 6 years for them to do it. The rules will be completely different by the time you are a chief.

I disagree. The system of PGY-6 chief year, followed by 1 year fellowship is the ideal set up. Eliminates the PGY-8 year no one likes. Solves the problem with enfolded fellowships not meaning anything. Allows people to come out of 7 year residency with proper subspecialization for the majority of jobs. Things do change often, but this is a pretty nice solution I think it has a chance to be in place for a while.
