Declining a sub-I interview?

Anyone ever declined an interview where they did a sub-I at? Obviously not ideal but if for the sake of interviews at better programs and you did not enjoy the sub-I very much and don't want to go there is it really that bad?

I did. While the training there was excellent, it just wasn’t where I wanted to end up for several reasons. Figured I’d save myself the cost of flying back there and let them interview someone else who was more excited about being there.

I wouldn't recommend it if you are using one of their letters. Someone may call them about you.

Fair point. This might be the only reason to go back.
