Patients don't know jack shit about which medical schools are good. They would believe Princeton and Notre Dame has the best program.

Very true. Also, everyone is avoiding the elephant in the room- what about operative experience? Anecdotally, plenty of residents from top programs can't operate to save their lives.

Research and prestige and fancy names? They won't help you when you are in some lonely OR late one night with a problem you can't handle.

Just my two cents.
