being a chair is a crap job now anyways. lots of red tape, you will never see your family, get bossed around by hospital admin. the top tier neurosurgeons are not even applying anymore.

Great job ACGME. Residents get abused, so residents lose their jobs. Moral of the story: if you can't fix problems in your program amongst yourselves, just give it up. The only other recourse involves losing your job.

Thank god they hired a wellness officer though, that'll solve it.

Hiring 3 APPs for each resident lost to do just the same job, if not less, and probably at double to triple the salary, and half the working hours. When will some programs realize how valuable residents are to run a healthy clinical service, and appreciate the sacrifices we make for seven years. Hopefully the lesson is learnt in NM and DMC, and a very expensive lesson it is going to be.
