What's the status of BNI Spine? Good for resident or fellow training like the Sonntag/Theodore days?

You will get good training at the BNI. However, it is nowhere near the level it was during the Sonntag/Theodore days. Uribe is a well known academic spine surgeon, but not on the same level by any means. The rest of the spine guys, most have probably never heard of, although will provide great training for a future career in PP. No better than many other programs out there, however. The program has changed quite a bit from the Spetzler era as well. While Lawton is an excellent neurosurgeon, he is not as highly regarded as Spetzler and certainly not as well liked across the field.

It seems many spine fellowships have one well known faculty and the rest are not as well known. Which spine fellowships would you say are the best for careers in academics?
