Numbers in this paper seem higher than what people were reporting above.

They're not starting salaries

From NERVES 2020 survey that just came out last week:

For 100% Pediatric Neurosurgery (all not just academic) - 665K is median compensation per FTE with 5,595 wRVUs required (n = 628)
For academic (all not just peds) - 703K per FTE with 7,438 wRVUs required

Good luck!

Any more stats from that survey e.g. across subspecialties?

Does that include all reported income or specifically the salary? I guess I'm inquiring if this includes on the side locums work. Also does it have starting salary data?

Fx NSx practice statistics are broken down by % of time dedicated entirely to functional

For 25% - 50% of time dedicated to Fx
Median total comp = 625K
Median wRVUs = 5,731
25th total comp = 500K
75th total comp = 828K

For 50% - 75% of time dedicated to Fx
Median total comp = 627K
Median wRVUs = 5,731
25th total comp = 500K
75th total comp = 836K

For 75% - 90% of time dedicated to Fx
Median total comp = 716K
Median wRVUs = 5,946
25th total comp = 559K
75th total comp = 909K

For 90% - 100% of time dedicated to Fx
Median total comp = 700K
Median wRVUs = 6,161
25th total comp = 567K
75th total comp = 837K

That's pretty low.. but not uncommon to see sub-300 or lower at well-known academic spots even if not Peds. Why do you think most folks land a nice pp spine gig on graduation, a lot of people don't like the idea of 7 years misery only to make less than an ED doc who spent 3 year training. Please, do not go into nsgy for the money. It's just not worth it and you will be deeply unhappy.

Totally agree re not going into nsgy for the money. But 150k in San Francisco with 6-figure student loans to pay back after 8 years of grueling minimum-wage training is criminal, it’s barely even a living wage in SF if you have a lot of loans and a family.
