Amazing leadership in Dempsey and Resnick, really friendly resident culture and more than enough autonomy/cases. Nebraska has an outstanding chair in Abosch, the chiefs seem to be graduating with ~2000 cases regularly. Nice work environment. Kansas has a great resident group, strong research with residents winning NREF grants consistently. Camarata is a true gentleman and wonderful surgical mentor.

^the above statement is very accurate. Midwest programs are often overlooked, but often have high volume, as many of them are the only centers around for many miles, and have huge unopposed catchment areas. Cost of living is often much lower as well.
