Seems like there is going to be more of an emphasis on research while still trying to maintain the operative experience that BNI is really unrivaled at. Expect more stringent publication requirements and dedicated research time.

Was told by a resident here that Lawton wants BNI to be UCSF. While you might have stood a chance before with few pubs, don't bother here if you're not an academic powerhouse.

Expect it to swing back towards the PGY5s making the list.

It may or may not be true that BNI academic standards are being gently pushed toward those of UCSF, but this had nothing to do with why these 2 residents (including one of the now PGY-5 class members during Spetzler era) had to leave the program.
