If you have the option to take it as either scored or pass/fail, take it for a score. If you don't have control over your schedule, don't sweat it. Tough to know with certainty how PDs will compare applicants who have a score with those who do not. Emphasis will likely shift toward Step 2CK, so you should plan to take CK in time for your score to be reported on ERAS. Study hard for your shelf exams M3 year, since this lays the foundation for Step 2CK success.

If you are at at top 10 school, I would not risk getting a average or bad score, it will only hurt you.

Step 1: 210
Step 2: 255

What will happen lol

Difficult to say what will happen in 2023 match
Did 230's match this year since it was so competitive? I feel like step 1 is the end all regardless of what people say.

210s and 220s matched this year with strong research pedigrees

what is considered a "good research" for an applicant. is the average number just a bunch of people submitting abstracts & posters?
