Tim Cook? Donald Trump? Sundar Pichai? The CEOs are the ones making American great. They drive the innovation. They take science and use it to improve lives. Law and finance work to help the business elite and help American develop such a strong economy and innovation machine. Doctors I guess tend to the health of the elite (and its this elite who make this country) so I guess they have a supportive role.

That poster didn’t think it through. America’s economic growth is due to our financial institutions. Business elites in other industries have only one purpose: pump up the short term numbers each quarter so stonks can go to the moon.

Any Rand would be rolling in her grave if she cared about doctors. We are totally ignoring our leverage over these captains of industry. If you get a CEO in the office, you should ask their board what the CEO’s care is worth to the company. If a CEO is worth a hundred million a year, keeping them in that role with a good surgeon should be worth quite a bit more than whatever their health plan will pay.

On a serious note, Jobs was a salesman who would have been nothing without Woz. Same in reverse.

I never knew that this place was full of socialists. The gentleman who is the subject of this conversation will be contributing positivly to America's innovation capacity and he will be a productive citizen, unlike the spine pain surgeons who populate the field.

Yeah! Innovation like McKinsey did at Purdue Pharma, ICE, Eskom, Enron, Saudi Arabia..the list goes on. They create nothing of value, but charge immensely for it. They are pure rent-seekers.

Half of residency is office politics. This message board is the closest you get to that.
