Barrow is far from malignant, but it seems like it would be stressful for every case to be a super complex bypass after a prior failed clipping or a huge scoly case. Sometimes I just wanna do a single level lammy and call it a day lol.

Barrow probably the least malignant place in the country

With some notable exception, avoid programs with 1 resident/year. Why? Junior level call extends into senior residency. Case volume/complexity/diversity pale compared to that of larger programs. Also, there are fewer opportunities to bond/learn from your co-residents.

Can confirm Hopkins is malignant, also too many residents for case volume

If you think Hopkins is malignant, then you've never been to an actually malignant program. Some of the nicest people in neurosurgery are there.

If you don't think Hopkins is malignant your IP address pings to Baltimore.

Hopkins:
Good Chair Good PD Superb research Superb colleagues Good mid-levels Good autonomy Excellent (second to maybe MGH/Mayo) reputation in both academic and PP. Patients will come to you in PP even if you paralyze half Excellent location (good trauma anyways) If you want the good life, choose Hopkins. |
