Step 1: 246
Step 2: haven’t taken it
Research:  6pubs none 1st/2nd author 3 talks/presentations/posters
Clinical grades: 60% honors

I’m genuinely concerned about my chances of matching, any response is greatly appreciated

If you're an American medical student with a 240+ and 2-5 papers, barring botching your sub-is you will most likely match.
How many programs do I apply to?

I'm personally not a risk-taker,these are conservative suggestions...

If you are AOA and have a home program that likes you: 65-70
If you are only in one of the above categories: 75-80
If you are neither: 80-85

Does that give me a really good chance of matching?

AOA? Yes
Having a home program that will rank you highly because they like you? Yes
The number of programs you apply to? No, it's based on how many programs you rank after you have interviewed.

If you go on 30 interviews and rank every program, chances are you'll match. Please see NRMP charting outcomes data.

What about me
Step 1 and 2: 251
Research: 3 pubs(2nd,3rd and 3rd pub, all clinical) 1talk
Clinical grades: 90% honors

Concerned about match chance due to lack of research and low step score

You're fine. Be normal on the trail and get good letters.

Unless there is some blatant red flag on your application i.e <240 step, no research, no home program, failing clinical rotation, then as an American medical student you have a good chance at matching.

I haven't failed a clinical rotation but had to remediate my psychiatry shelf.
