How big a deal is this, if at all?

No one cares. Just get a 250+.

its free money but its not a big deal. Its ultimately what you produce from it that matters. Same with year fellowships. No one is impressed if you did a howard hughes and publish nothing.

just get pubs. rest is free money-noone cares unless you have NREF/HHMI/Sarnoff/NIH(still no good without any pubs)

Thanks for the advice, ill focus on making sure the pubs from it get completed.

While I have you guys, is it really that 14 actual journal publications is the average for NSG? Or is there an element to this number that I'm not seeing. Im trying to hit 10-11 before ERAS and Im worried about being below average in this area, and I literally cannot squeeze any more time out of third year. Thanks again for the help!

P.S. Would have posted the question with my username but wrote it up on the fly, sorry!

Called the clerk yesterday and found out that I got it. They haven't released results yet due to a power outage in Colorado, but if you call they will just tell you if your name is on the list of funded projects. Good luck to you, though apparently it doesn't matter anyways. Time to buy some new lab equipment!
