If you decline/cancel an interview would you just email the coordinator? Or the PD too?

what is the pub number that really impresses faculty and may overcome other weaknesses in the application?

It is individually variable but for me I would say hitting double digits is where my impression goes from above average to excellent and hitting 30 is exceptional.  I'd say 2 to 5 is average and 6 to 9 is above average. Like I said that's just me and I also read the titles of the papers and what journal they are in which can also change my opinion. 30 papers in the Indian journal of podiatry and neurosurgery does not outweigh 2 papers in science or nature obviously.
Are you an attending? You seem to have wonderful insight into the process

Just a senior resident with a penchant for admissions.

You da best!!
