Word on the street is that the UCSD faculty and residents have invited chairman candidates to present their research to their grand rounds. Anyone on the inside that can enlighten us on their grand rounds schedule?

The sooner you learn this and get over your inadequacy and insecurities about not being the best the better.  There is no safe space in neurosurgery, and the field can humble even the greatest we have.  You will be absolutely destroyed if you bring that attitude to residency, by your superiors and peers and the field itself.

I'm not sure why this person keeps insisting delashaw is in play anywhere. How could anyone justify a chairmanship for someone whose medical license is suspended? Delashaw is done.

Pretty sure no one was stupid enough to give him another chairmanship after that though. Or am I wrong?

First comment here. Delashaw is not done. He can get a license in another state. It's just hard for an institution to hire him as a chair after the recent news. Dick Winn is not a good comparison because his appointments after UW were emeritus and not a full practicing neurosurgeon. Good comparisons come to mind are Art Day (from BWH to UT-Houston) and Issam Awad (from Colorado to Northshore affiliated with Northwestern to U Chicago). Both were chairs and had outstanding issues at their first institutions that forced them to leave including lawsuits but they were able to return to academia later on. Neither was re-appointed as a chair though.
