Love it
I met one freaking subI with MD PhD and more than 40 first author pubs including top journals
Guess what? Applying this cycle ...
No chance for me
Relax dude.
The neuroticism on this forum has to chill. I know it’s neurosurgery and we’re all pathologically competitive but most of us have to accept being middle of the pack in this field.
We all have weaknesses in our applications or personalities or whatever. Don’t let it eat you. That’s how you become one of these bitter residents or attendings that you hate working with. It’s early in the season, and unless you made a major mistake applying with a seriously flawed application, you’ll probably be fine as time goes on. Not everyone can be (or wants to be) an MD/PhD with a ton of papers.
Stop comparing yourself to everyone else’s highlight reel. On paper, my app looks pretty good. I’m an MD/PhD with a good score, research, grants, teaching, etc etc. But I’m terrified because one of my required letters is from a neurosurgeon that isn’t particularly well liked in the field and I’m worried it will make me miss out on top-tier places.
We all have burdens to bear. Nobody is perfect. Everybody exaggerates their accomplishments (or you do it for them). Just do your best and keep on trucking.
Shouldn't have gone to SLU bruh
It’s where my lab was. I’m cool with the decision. I’ve done well for myself and met some great people along the way, so I have no complaints.
