No confirmation from BNI after initial email.
George Washington: Nov 29 and Dec 13
Guys... can someone please help me understand. Mid 240s step 1. 5 published articles with about 10 more submitted. But only 2 interviews? I thought I would be a bit better off than that?

Sorry man! Are you as US senior? I’m only realizing that a significant part of the process—-in the absence of obvious red flags—- might just be random/luck and not a direct reflection of your candidacy... we’re still in the 2nd week of October. I’ll talk to your mentors/PD/Chair and hang tight. It’s  not over at all!!!

Letters go a long, long way. How were your away rotations?
Did you write your personal statememt on something dumb like drilling your first burr hole or wanting to be like daddy/mommy the neurosurgeon? How many letters do you have in, only from home or from aways also? Anything to demonstrate long-standing interest? I’m about 10 points lower and have 8 IV and 2 WL and those are the things I’ve heard app reviewers bitch about applicants this year for.

Apparently the personal statement du jour from a year or two ago was “the first time I saw the DBS lead turned on,” and it generated similar angst amongst program directors when they read the (legitimately) ~75-100th application with that statement lol
Anyone been getting any rejections yet? Haven’t seen any changes in app status for programs that have already sent out invites.
