UCSF

Lol of these only UCSF is any good.  Even there with the boat rocking, currently, there is much to question.

So then who do you suggest is the big 3?

What does this even mean?

Are fourth year med students so infantile that y’all have to rank all these programs into some (completely fake and irrelevant) order so you can have knob-sizing contests over it?

Not trying to be an asshole but come on. Each program has its merits and each program makes good surgeons. Programs are not one-size-fits-all. I just get so tired of seeing doximity and shit cited as some rank list for objectively “better” programs when it’s simply not true.

Find somewhere you like. Find somewhere that will train you in the style you want to be the surgeon you want. Pick two others like that. There’s your Big 3.

Love you all. Hope you all match at places that you love. But fuck, relax.

You guys have it all wrong.

THESE are the top three neurosurgery programs in the country.

1. Barrow
2. BNI
3. The Lawton Center for Kids Who Don’t Read Good and Want to do Other Things Good Too

You may not like it, but this is peak performance
Reply
You may not like it but what has Barrow actually contributed in neurosurgery in the past decade. I would argue other places have pushed the field further with tumor immunology, endoscopic approaches, endovascular etc. If you want a private practice though go for it.

Advances in the field of neurosurgery don’t really have much to do with resident operative experience. Barrow is among the best, if not the best. Consider that as a chief you are basically doing a Lawton fellowship, if you’re interested in open vascular that’s tough to beat.

does anyone know what time the Hofstra preinterview dinner start?

Anyone get a confirmation from Mayo Jacksonville?

Question for anyone else interviewing at Mayo Clinic (Rochester): Does anyone know the interview schedule for November 15-16? Trying to book flights/hotels, but ERAS is down so I can't see the message. Thanks for any help!
