Seriously why does every program interview on the same dates? I haven't been able to schedule more than 14 interviews, because everyone interviews on the same dates. I know that everyone says it's done on purpose, but it's a bad move. There are a few programs I have had to reject that I would have LOVED to go to, but they required sacrificing 2 interviews for them in this week and I just couldn't justify it. Alright, rant over.

Same but you can’t match at every program you just have to pick the ones you are more interested in. Sure it’s frustrating but that’s the process and no one said it’s perfect.

In my n=1 experience, you need 2 invites for every 1 you can schedule to get the dates right, and you need to reply like instantly as well.

Not sure where this "it's done on purpose" originates from. Finding enough dates where most of our faculty are available to interview is hard enough. I get the appeal of believing in some vast multi-program conspiracy - like all good conspiracies, it attempts to provide some deeper meaning to what is just chaos and coincidence. Unfotunatley, the reality is likely a lot less interesting. Take busy PD schedules, add multiple holidays and specialty conferences that punch wide wholes in faculty availability, and mix with a diminishing desire to schedule dates as the season progresses - voila! A significantly narrowed field of dates to choose from. Not saying the frustration isn't real or unwarranted, but it's also not about you (malignantly or otherwise).

Alright, rant over. ^ This. The only reason our dates were chosen was because they were the ones bitched about the least by faculty. IMO the solution is for more placed to treat the interview like BNI does. With interviews not disrupting the normal day, you hang around and see the day to day operations and interview with faculty when they get a minute, go to dinner afterwards. This allows you to set up like 10 different dates, giving applicants plenty of options.

Alright, rant over. yeah, that would be ideal right? unfortunately that also means u won't be remembered as well after 10 different dates. we get how frustrating it is to schedule interviews, etc. you just have to make a choice, that's all. to each his own.

How much does it hurt not to have a senior faculty call for you?
