1. Berger to step down soon.
2. New faculty search to replace McDermott skull base/meningiomas. Saigal is in the mix. 3. Mummaneni is front choice as chair. Manley is too old, and Aghi is too nice to be chairman. Also wants to focus on his lab. 4. Eddie Chang wants to focus on research but is fielding other programs as director of functional - higher salary + lower cost of living no matter where he goes. Word on the street is Neuralink is interested in working with him in a higher capacity. With the addition of Wang, there is a glut of functional neurosurgeons at UCSF. 5. Mike Lim as chair of Stanford + JFM as skull base will revitalize their tumor program. Vascular to remain average. Abla at UCSF is soaking up the open vascular cases. 6. Both UCSF and Stanford have hired several spine faculty over the past two years; power dynamics are going to be interesting as both institutions are heavily promoting their satellite offices throughout the Bay Area.

Saigal is a former UCSF resident, currently a *spine* attending at UW. Logical choice to replace McDermott, the skull base is just the spine's hat.oe63b
