Chairs Shuffling
Lemole is out at Arizona because he failed to promote to chair of the department.

Classic example of a someone who burned bridges and failed to make friends.

Ladies and gents, times they are a changing!

Unless you're talking about a chair who has hit the magical 65yo mark, in which case the step down might be legitimate. But in that case I think you expect to see full retirement or transition to emeritus status vs moving back onto the faculty

Anybody care to clarify the current leadership at Tucson? Is Weinand running the show right now? The program website has some contradictory info still with Lemole (who others have said is out).

To be fair, it sounds like she's been smearing her residents for a long time and med students deserve to know the culture of a program before they commit to 7 years at an institution that tolerated it.

Isn't Lemole a previous UIC attending also?

One person said she stepped down 'involuntarily' and another said fired. I fail to see the the difference. All med student and resident evaluations of attendings are anonymous and those comments are not necessarily by med students.

A prominent pioneering female leader in neurosurgery everyone expected to be a chair suddenly falls from grace. It’s not only big news but bad news for inclusivity and diversity in neurosurgery. If you’re not interested, don’t read.

There are a lot of dysfunctional “leaders” in neurosurgery and they have to GO.
