What are people's thoughts about Vandy this cycle?!

Seemed like a great culture, nice location, good leadership, pretty good research with clinical > basic/translational

7 home applicants and 5 other rotators though. If you can only invest heavily in 3-5 programs, seems like it could be a waste here this year

^This. If a program has more than ~3 home applicants I’d factor that in when making rank lists this year..

Virtually every top 15 place has 3+ home applicants so I wouldn't use that as a factor

In a normal year I’d agree, but with Covid.. I can only speak for our own program but there is greater preference than usual for home applicants

I'll still rank according to my true preference but won't be surprised if I fall a few spots if those in my top 5-10 have a bunch of home people

This is key, home applicants wanting to match elsewhere need to be vocal about it so their chair can call and facilitate this, especially if you come from a good home institution people are gunna assume you want to stay
