^Also curious about this

I got kind of a neutral response FWIW. Not feeling too optimistic
They give everyone neutral response FWIW cuz they know they have their pick

Interesting to see the shift of applicants away from big name academic places and more toward places with privademic mix. I'm a fan and it will be interesting to see if/how those academic places change with the tide.

Seems like a lot of them are trying to increase volume and emphasize more operative experience because they know applicants are worried about this. At the same time, the operative places and trying to build out research. Everyone trying to build more balanced programs

Agreed glad to see them doing this. Balance has been a big thing for me looking for programs

I'm sure they're trying. The thing is that you can say whatever you want during an interview presentation with powerpoint slides, but top applicants are really good about doing their research: talking to people they know and trust who are either residents at a place or rotated there to get the inside scoop. Unfortunately, it's very easy to lose a culture of autonomy as time goes on and very different to get attendings to take on a new approach to doing things/do the reverse.

My experience from last year is that the PD at GW emailed back, Gtown called, and Inova is radiosilent (his policy apparently). Dont know about NIH.

Agree on the derangedness. UCSF trained faculty at my home dept are a stark contrast from everybody else and the malignancy is palpable.
