Just because individuals don't know doesn't mean the program will tolerate it. The actual key players known We've had to turn away a scheduling request from at least one person who a faculty member invited. Very awkward for both parties.

It can bump you up a couple spots on a rank list. I know because we just did that for an applicant after interviews. Guy was bumped up by a big skull base name.

Does this only help if the applicant has expressed that it's their #1? Just wondering how common it is for mentors/chairs to make calls to an applicant's #2 or #3
