Have to cancel an interview. Which would you pick?
#1
I have an unsolvable interview scheduling conflict and have to let go of one of these programs. Help me decide which. On the surface I like all three and would have absolutely kept them all if it was possible.

Wash U St. Louis
Michigan
Brigham

Can I get some highlights, pros/cons, anything/everything on the table on the program and the city etc

Had a similar dilemma, cancelled Brigham. My mentors have been telling me it’s just not what it used to be, whatever that means. Mostly just a cultural thing, it’s supposedly pretty malignant. But you can’t go wrong, at the end of the day they’re all great programs so take this advice with a grain of salt

Brigham, might be unstable with hospital mergers in Boston

Fellow applicant here who did my sub-i at Michigan. Amazing place, would recommend keeping it if you can. Also have a friend at WashU who absolutely loves it, but I don't know anything about Brigham so it might be great too (just a rough city to live in)

OP here: I thought St Louis was the worst city of the 3 to live in. It’s my primary con fir that program. There are some reviews on Doximity for Brigham specifically mentioning the program isn’t as malignant as it used to be. Perhaps that’s not the case.

Do you feel that pertains to MGH as well?

Went to the WashU meet and greet thing last week, they seemed super happy and surprisingly liked the area, even the ones who weren’t originally from there

Haha no MGH will come out on top, very little doubt about that

MGH will definitely come out on top. Some other departments have already consolidated and established combined departments with MGH chairs
