Anil Nanda put on leave at Rutgers

It sounds like he’s being reprimanded for similar stuff that forced him to leave Louisiana. Thoughts? Also curious - I’ve seen several times on this forum that Nanda has lots of “political power”. How and why? Why is he more “powerful” than other Dept Chairs if he isn’t at a big name institution?

Slightly less egregious than UWs Dick Winn being out of the country for surgeries performed and billed for under his name at UW. Sounds like Somebody at Rutgers has an ax to grind.

so many of the low class staff are so full of jealousy. some pa's, nps, nurses etc will just report you and lie about u. nowadays they have the "teamwork" and drs have a target on their back. better be careful of a saff will ruin your life, which is what happened here.
a lot of staff are so evil.

Wanna know what's evil? Being a patient thinking that Anil Nanda was operating on you only to have him never step into the OR...just because tons of neurosurgeons are doing doesn't make it in the least the right thing for patients. Sad to see how hungry ppl on this forum are for operative experience without considering what that means for a patient

Not making a stop in the OR is one thing. The attending should always make an appearance.
On the other hand, I don’t want a generation of neurosurgeons who watched their attendings and “graduated”. That’s dangerous and unfortunately the norm for some surgeries at some program.

You have no clue what you're talking about. Your favorite neurosurgeons all let their residents and fellows do the operation. Any attending can take a case from you and do it themselves, it's the great ones that can let you do it and get you out of any trouble. The patient in the operation the fellow is doing under supervision (no matter how light the supervision) is much safer than the patient of a new attending who graduated barely putting their hands on anyone.

top surgeons only operate on patients who are doctors or VIPs. otherwise, it is the residents or fellows for you. lots of patients travel across the world to see a particular doctor, only to have an overworked and inexperienced resident operate on them, while the doctor is overseeing 3 other surgeries to increase billing.

So is Nanda fired? Should I withdraw my app from Rutgers? Are they going down the tubes?
