3 PGY-7s scrubbing one aneurysm. Translation, “our vascular volume is low”

What programs have good open vascular volume besides Barrow?

Scope isn’t even in, so three chiefs for a crani. Much disappoint.

UIC, BIDMC (Ogilvy), Hopkins

Better question is why you’re seeking open experience when there are fewer and fewer indications

What constitutes "good" vascular volume? How many open vascular cases a week?

Stop the presses - they don't do boatloads of open vascular at Stanford???

50+ clippings a year is good volume for any program these days. There are <10 places with that though.nToday, vascular means endovascular means stroke call. If you don't like thrombectomies, don't even consider it. Source: friends applying for fellowships.

Seems like nothing has changed at that institution. Four residents scrubbing in to a glioma comes to mind.

First response from Francisco Aquino is priceless: "And where is the attending"
Answer: Scrubbing in to take over the critical part of the case.
