All of the people your talking about are the same person.

Louisville neurosurgery died in 2009 and has not recovered. I promise you it will not recover under the current regime. The best gamble if you want to match is to rank them last. If you have self respect you should not rank them at all.

Seriously though why is this place such a dumpster fire? They have a built in referral system and are a large level 1 trauma center that is busy. It can’t be that hard to get decent faculty. Also does anyone have any real insight into why these people were fired? Niemat is a well known person in the field and people general say hes a good guy so what’s the deal?

Both Niemat and Nauta seem to have an evil look about them. Look at their profile pics--both of them are smirking. Never a good sign.

Are you also reading people's palms? Can we just stay rational with this, because you sound ridiculous? They might as well be a dumpster fire, although I can still see how one or two disgruntled people may be able to keep this thread alive. What I have not heard is a real listing of fired residents and what happened. If residents and medical students there are actually worried, this would've easily been provided

It all just seems a bit over the top, based on what's written on here

Agreed. The fact that literally no one can seem to put any real substance to claims seems like one or two people have an axe to grind.

Care to add a sentence to that?
Because throwing an article into the thread without any input just kinda proves my point. While it's certainly a bad look that a major NIH-funded study gets cut like that, and the PI blames 'disgruntled former colleagues', this type of stuff happens quite a lot in academia. What it has to do with the residency program, I can't tell.

Also, that was 6 years ago... I'll just go ahead and say that the department is fine if none of you people can actually provide some updated input.

They have well-recognized faculty and great volume. Stop linking old articles without any input and stories of how you heard something through the grapevine because all you're doing is giving applicants anxiety.
This is coming from an applicant in this cycle who didn't interview there, no skin in the game

Nice podcast interview here with Dr. Neimat from Nov. '21. https://maxwellboakye.com/episode-11-fun...ph-neimat/ Neimat is a very reasonable person and a well respected leader. The negative energy directed towards this program seems unfair.
