Paul Gardner moving? Is he a good surgeon clinically?

I feel so depressed that I may never become a neurosurgeon, because I go to a shite med school

Just take a research year and publish like 20 clinical papers. I went to bad med school too with a low step 1 score but I published 20+ papers and still matched. Research is more important than step 1 score.

I'm curious how important research actually is. Must be program dependent. Just look at UCSF's last 3 classes for instance. Nothing impressive besides 1 or 2 people. Even one of their 3rd years only has 7 papers and hasn't published in nearly 2 years.
