Also rotated at Buffalo, certainly more recent than above poster. Junior residency is tough but to say it's a place to avoid based on that is heinous. The flip-side is that the seniors have incredible autonomy, case exposure, and surgical skills.
And you get to live in a frozen postindustrial wasteland too
Didn’t Buffalo let a PGY2 go last year ? Sounds like they have a great team culture in place. Lol.
how is uic?
Can anyone comment on these programs? From what I know have had recent warnings/probation/shut down etc. Why do programs shut down?
UIC, Detroit/Wayne State, New Mexico, Loma Linda, Peurto Rico, UCSD?
UIC is probably ok now that Amin-Hanjani went to Case although UIC juniors get crushed.
Yeah avoid Louisville, the current and upcoming chiefs literally need to be on antipsychotics. The attendings/program leadership are pleasant though.
Then there’s places you shouldn’t apply to like Peioria and Mississippi
What's going on at Mississippi?
I’d stay away from a lot of the “name recognition “ ivy places unless u like to do a lot of scut work and just watch surgery but not operate. Their grads have been having some issues passing boards
In the past few years
Would you go to a program on probation?
