Who do residents/med students waste time going to conferences
#1
We all know the big ones. CNS, AANS, SRS, etc. At the end of the day no one could care less about that one line on your CV where you presented a poster (like 400 other people that day) or a podium presentation (like 150 people that day). That person you think you "networked" with has already forgotten your name (presuming you're not already a big name). So why then, would you continue to fork up 800+ dollars to go to these conferences? The only reason I'd personally do it is for some sort of award (with hopefully some monetary value).

To stack up “research items” for ERAS

If you did research of even minimal value, someone else pays for your ticket.

^Even then, the actual benefit you get out of it seems to be minimal. That time could actually be used for manuscript preparation
