It isn't so easy to sink someone as is being described. I've witnessed it. Some have made it past unscathed and one did not. The bottom line is if you have a long-established pattern of sleazy behavior, you are much more likely to not get the benefit of the doubt when someone comes forward. The one fellow that got nailed blatantly was cheating on his wife for years in public with nurses and had numerous women who grumbled about his advances privately. No one was really surprised when someone came forward during the height of the me too movement and he got canned.
"Don't shit where you eat." "If you lie down with dogs you come up with fleas." "The mistake isn't stepping on a mine it is walking into the minefield", etc, etc, etc. You're a neurosurgeon, it isn't typically all that hard to burn through hookups on modern dating apps. Swipe left on medical professionals until you're looking for a relationship. I had my time in the sun too when I was a younger man and I have never had an issue with this sort of thing by simply keeping my hands and eyes off ladies in the hospital.
BEWARE OF FEMALES EVEN IF THEY DON'T WORK WITH YOU!!!!
I read a story recently on SDN/reddit. Basically, the resident was dating a female, and the female accused him of assault. She filed a police report.
The police investigated and found it all to be false (they looked at camera footage, texts, interviewed neighbors etc and found her to be faking it all). So the police dropped all charges.
HOWEVER, the police department was a mandated reporter to the local educational institutions--including the hospital. So they reported the (false) charge, as well as their report (which found her to be lying, and him to be completely innocent).
So the hospital got the police report basically saying that the man is innocent.
HOWEVER, the hospital HR department determined that is is "more likely than not" that the man did something wrong -- even though police investigators looked at everything and literally said that she is lying. So the innocent resident was fired for "sexual misconduct." Also, because it was "sexual misconduct" it was on his file for good, and if he applies to other programs, they will ask for this file. So basically, he is finished for life. Everything he worked for is gone -- because of a false report.
So don't think that outside females are any better.
And don't think that "healthcare professionals" will act moral. Don't think the world is a fair place.
Welcome to 21st century America.
Also, just to emphasize, the lying female was not an employee of the hospital. So that's why the advice that Focus gives is outdated to say the least.
You have to be careful. No one cares about you.

I doubt that is the whole truth of the story. Again, if you have a long standing history of harassing women in the hospital or if they were just looking for an excuse to fire you, maybe, but residents in good standing without a history of bad behavior don't go straight to fired if only because of the legal department. Need a paper trail first and then fire them.
I remember when I was a pre-med I used to work at a hospital and I had a few female supervisors pick on me. Whenever I made a small mistake these females would say, "you can't be a doctor if you don't know how to do XYZ."
^Were those supervisors physicians? If they were just administrators, they were likely just jealous. Man, I hated being a pre-med in the hospital. The nurses would treat you like vile scum. They got mad at me for entering patient rooms even thought that was my damn job. Can't wait to get my revenge as an attending and own all those scrub techs and nurses. I wonder if that's how neurosurgery GOAT Charlie Wilson became the a'hole that he was ultimately known to be.
^^ They were all nurses and techs.
I developed a strong dislike for those people, for all they did to me. Humiliated me in front of patients, etc.
Nowadays they are promoting "inter-professional" teams. The shamelessness of these thugs is shocking.
Most attending neurosurgeons that I've observed don't even make eye contact with scrub techs during cases. Sadly, they just take their anger out on med students while the attendings and residents just watch. I once had to wait 15 minutes standing with my hands in the f'ing air because the scrub tech wouldn't give me gloves.
I remember one lab tech bitch I worked with used to ask me questions and then say, "How can you go medical school if you don't even know XYZ."
This female then got some promotion and used that to schedule me on finals, etc.
And this hog would actually say idiot things like, "We do all the work and doctors get all the credit" "We are the most important people because we do all the diagnosis, but doctors get all the respect" the amount of hate they had was amazing.
^^ Be aware of female students, residents, nurses, and lab techs who somehow have gained the trust of their attending. They will use it to their advantage, especially if they don't have any track record of personal awards or recognition in their careers.
^^ 100% true.
However, I would add younger female attendings to that list. I have seen a lot of younger ones behave very irrationally and make life difficult if you accidently anger them. A lot of them are also vying for higher positions, and false accusations are a good way to get promoted in today's world (makes you a "survivor").
Amongst younger men, we are all terrified about false accusations, as they are so common. Even if you aren't expelled, you will suffer professionally.
It's better to be safe than sorry, imo.
