Dude, the statistic of 13% came from the NRMP program director survey in 2016. It's not perfect, but still a pretty good source. Remember that you can't take that 13% as an absolute because the survey response rate was no 100%. In fact, the for Neurosurgery Program Directors the N was 32 and I think 27 for that particular question. If you calculate confidence intervals the actual statistic is more like 13% (95% CI 2% - 29%). We are currently at 32/109 programs inviting which is 29% as of right now (September 28th). So we are not far out from what would be expected from the results of the survey. Looking at the 99% confidence interval the proportions are 1%-35%. The point is, still, most interviews come after October 1st, 65% even if you take the upper limit of the 99% confidence interval. So, take a sip and relax!

still way too early. For what its worth I got an invite a few days after from the first day a couple of these schools originally sent out invites. They're definitely not sending out all at once.
