It’s better than not being a neurosurgeon. Be thankful for what you have.

LSU sounds like a poop program.

Regardless of where you choose to do your sub-i or rank, ask around from other residents or previous sub-i's how that program was. Some places will have IMG research fellows that purposefully try and sabotage your chances by making up lies or rumors to the chairman/PD. Mayo Rochester is one of the top programs. The associated satellite facilities should not be even in the same conversation. I've heard some rumors about Florida campus, run FAR away.

Poop program!

Pity that so many comments are so ill informed.  Mayo is centrally run and all its programs are solid.
Just look at the case volumes, publications, and quality of the attendings.

MN is fantastic. But FL and AZ are poop.

I did sub Is at barrow and Carolinas both were super operative heavy with PGY1/2s single scrubbing good cases and PGY4s/5s doing good cases with attending assisting/supervising without being scrubbed.

Not sure why you’re discouraging OP for wanting more autonomy in a training program… if you had to choose between a place w/ no autonomy and BNI, would you choose the former just to “be grateful”? I would guess not. Comments like this add nothing to the discussion.
