Trying to figure out how hard I should be trying to get the best grades possible since my school has graded pre-clinicals. Will programs in the future judge my grades harshly if the majority of US schools are P/F?

How much do preclinicals play into AOA if you have it?

Do you really expect anyone to tell you don't worry about preclinical, feel free to tank them, and recover in clinics?

How important is AOA
Not life or death at most programs, but in a world of progressively fewer metrics it is still something that signifies high performance.

AOA does matter at our institution, almost every applicant is a member, though not always junior AOA. That being said, in this day and age AOA is not always based on academic achievement at every institution, so it is losing a bit of its significance.
Like the above poster said, it’s one more piece of the puzzle. Someone who did well on step 2, is AOA, mostly honors rotations, and has solid letters, has demonstrated a consistent track record of achievement, and can likely be counted on to continue to perform, which is what faculty look for in applicants.

question: for my transcript, I come from a school whose grading scale changed in the middle of my rotations (long story). I got all Honors/Honors (including surgery ) before the change, and then it changed to P/F only for rotations. My MSPE says this and says (P is the highest) for the second round of grades, but when nrsgy programs evaluate my app are they going to be paying attention to that? or think I only got 1/2 honors? just applied so feeling neurotic.
