That is hardly basic science, at least in my opinion. If I said I look at retrospective imaging for chart review would that be basic science? Just because it's on a microscope slide doesn't make it basic science.

well a pub is a pub. I doubt programs differentiate between clinical or basic science pubs

Doing pathological studies of patient derived tumors is basic science

Correlating path studies of patient derived tumors with the outcomes of the patients based on a chart review would be considered a mix of basic/clinical but unless you were doing the path staining yourself then your contribution to this study would not be doing basic science but rather doing the chart review which would be clinical. This study as a whole would be considered basic research but once again unless you are doing the path yourself then you wouldn’t say “I do basic research” but rather “I contributed the chart review”

In all people are trying to understand the research skills that you have. So if you can do path studies that is a valuable basic research skill. If you can do a chart review, that is also a valuable research skill but it is clinicaL

Hi, currently in college. Would I be able to do neurosurgery clinical pubs and still put them on my ERAS when I get to med school and am looking to apply to residency?
