Depends on the kind of tumor you are talking, but generally look for programs associated with the largest national cancer hospitals (MD Anderson, JHU, UCSF, Dana Farber) - doesn't necessarily tell you how much you will get to do. But if you are a competent resident and demonstrate surgical capabilities, I imagine any of those places would let you operate. If you suck, you will be holding a suction at even the most clinically heavy programs.

There are lots of other programs out there with high tumor volumes, but for gliomas in particular, the above applies.

You will know how to take tumors out at the end of any ACGME approved residency. My program doesn’t get a ton of tumors, and I feel comfortable handling the large majority of tumors that come through the door.
