I took a research year, and now I'm worried I've forgotten things on the clinical side. Any advice on what to do?
I've been looking through Greenberg, but it's kind of dense for getting back into the groove of things.
Thieme by eNeurosurgery is a great resource if your institution has a subscription.
For those who prefer videos, try Cohen-Gadol's neurosurgicalatlas.com, which is great for cranial (but lacking for spine).
Everyone should read Lawton's Seven Aneurysms.
In general, most of the questions I was asked while on SubI were anatomy during surgery (flavum, STA, layers of tissue from skin to skull were repeat offenders), different scales (Hunt Hess, Spetzler Martin, GOS, etc.), and radiology (identifying lesions mostly).
Totally agree.
Focus on shunts and DBS. Those are the high face time, low pimp cases.
It's fine, no one cares about your clinical acumen. They only care about your step 1 score
