basically the title...
How hard is it to match neurosurgery in comparison to the other specialties. I’d appreciate it if someone could rank the specialties in terms of competitiveness
Thanks
Dude cmon wtf. Search on this website man. Don’t make people do your own homework
Plastics = Derm > Ortho > Neurosurgery > Everything Else
It's bottom tier as far as surgical subspecialties go tbh.
ENT/Derm > Ortho/Plastics/Neurosurg/CT surg >> IR > RadOnc > EM >> Peds/IM/Gen Surg/Anesth/Neurology/Rads
Neurosurgery has the worst match rate look at charting. Way harder than plastics and ENT. Take it from me, didn’t get it. Not to mention the average applicant has 18 research items on their resume
ENTs match rate took a dip last year because the year or two before they had like a hundred open spots at the end of the match. It’s not particularly competitive but last year they had an excess of applicants and had a match rate lower than Neurosurgery. This year likely the same. Should equal out soon but overall their applicants just...aren’t the same.
NS isn’t really all that competitive
