Advanced Statistics - 2020 Match
#1
The NRMP released advanced match data for 2020. Brutal year in our specialty.
The overall match rate was 58.4%.
The match rate for US MD seniors was 74.4% (vs. 80.4% last year). By comparison, the match rate for US MD seniors this year is 78.1% in dermatology and 79.1% in ortho. ENT also had a tough year with 73.6% of US seniors matching.

203/273 is not "brutal" in any sense of the word.

I think OP is referring to overall match rate. 387 ppl applied and only 232 positions, which is a 59.9% match rate. The 203/273 is just US MD seniors.

-3. More than 1 out of every 4 US SENIORS going unmatched is insanely competitive. Check out charting outcomes 2016 data onward; that's about what derm was at its peak competitiveness.

Yea it is pretty bad look at the numbers...The problem is that ppl pick specialty based on step score and NSG used to be "easy" now its the hardest field in medicine
