Most female and POC friendly programs?
#1
Not sure how to judge other than looking at the residents page and counting number of women and POC. But I did notice that a place like UNC Chapel Hill is 6/14 female, which is very impressive. And strong programs in the Midwest like Mayo and WashU have very little POC. Anybody care to share their own experiences?

I recall Oregon at some point at least was 50/50. Agree looking at current residents AND faculty would be helpful. I've heard a few different ways to phrase it but it seems that typically when a minority population exceeds 15% in a large population or, in the case of a small group, there are three or more persons present that reflect a specific group it seems like the culture tends to be more tolerant/accepting of that group. I don't have any data to support those numbers, but there's plenty of data in the education literature about the benefits of having role models that you can identify with in your training program.

what the fuck is going on at vandy? The PD is openly racist and sexist. Why is an openly racist, prejudiced, and sexist person allowed to be a faculty, let alone PD? why is sexism and racism tolerated in this field?

Cry me a river. There is absolutely nothing wrong with what she said. There is no such thing as a “diverse” background. People just use “diversity” like a buzzword for points, it had no place in the LOR.

Looking at how she said, especially white males from top US institutions, its obvious what her intent was, and she tried to backtrack saying no one can be a “diverse” person. It’s appalling she can call out an entire demographic like that, surprise surprise, the move that won’t get you in trouble but a lot of likes.

Oh snowflake, is the world being mean to you again? Do you need some help? Should I get Squi and P.J. to go after the mean people?

Can you talk more about what the residency is like? Is it a good work-life balance in comparison to others? What's the culture like?
