TLIF Technique

Do you guys typically do laminectomy first, followed by cage placement? Or put in cage first and decompress after. For open tlif

At the very least I do a partial laminectomy for dural retraction. If I plan on decompressing bilaterally I typically do screws and decompression first.

My usual workflow is:
Screws > decompression (lami, +/- facetectomies: descending then ascending facets) > interbody graft > rods and set screws > compress across screws > final tighten

no lami needed for TLIF. that would be a PLIF.
