Not true. If Al-Mefti shot someone in broad daylight in downtown Boston today he'd still have a job tomorrow. The suits care about money more than anything, and if by simply being able to attach someone's name to their institution they can attract tens of millions in funding, they're nigh-untouchable

God bless Al-Mefti man. So inspirational. Makes me cry every time.

WashU PD slept with a PGY6's wife? Didn't the current chairman also fire a PGY4 a few years ago for similar reasons?

How do you get fired for that? That has nothing to do with acgme core competencies.

WashU chair looks like Fletcher (JK Simmons) from the movie, Whiplash

The only competency that matters is being aligned with your PD and attendings. Get into conflict with them and it doesn't matter how great you are, they'll find a way to force you out

Well how would that resident try to get back in? They know they have what it takes. Do they explain the real reason fired, or just suck it up and say whatever professionalism reason they used on them- it was a bad time and learned from it.

So the attending sleeps with the resident's wife, and then the attending fired the resident?

Brutal.

Brutal. Cuckold the man. And then remove a decade worth of striving in an instant. I would have filed suit.

^ filing suit sounds easy but the reality is its virtually impossible to win anything. They will just accuse you of this and that, and are protected because of "patient safety."
