Looking for a job where i can spend 3-6 months off a year and take half the pay. Is that possible? Has anyone heard of that?

If you’re going the employed route make sure you know how many FTEs you need to qualify for benefits.

Don’t do residency if you are gonna quit the profession. Many people are wanting a residency spot and would love to work a ton.

^^What a stupid comment. What happens when someone who works harder than you says you’re quiet quitting? Are you going to quit because of someone else’s self-serving criteria? There’s always someone who works harder, and they’re not posting angrily on a message board.

OP should do whatever the hell they want with the opportunity. No program is going to graduate a part time resident. If someone wants to hire a part time attending, sounds like it would be a good fit. There’s always locums.

On the other note, I know a person who interviewed for residency and said he wanted to do locums only as a career. Our program looked down on him for that. He didnt match, but was actually a very strong good candidate on paper. He now works in business probably making more than most neurosurgeons.

Me Me Me. These millennials/gen Z only care about themselves. I want full benefits, 1 M+ salary, and only want to work 3 days a week and 8 hours a day. Look at the recent hollywood strikes where multi-millionaire actors and writers complain about low salary, or the nurse strikes where semi-literate nurses/staff complain about 6 figures. Completely narcissistic and lazy, not a care in the world about doing good for patients or society. No wonder this country is on such a path.
