If an applicant has a ridiculous number of abstracts (>40) with a large number of peer reviewed pubs (>20), would it be better to just avoid listing any abstracts at all in order to avoid watering down the entire research section on ERAS?
Personally, I chose not to include any abstracts on ERAS because I didn't want to take attention away from more substantial scholarly publications. If I had fewer manuscripts and presentations, I would have included abstracts. If you get to the point where programs are giving your application an in-depth review, it shouldn't matter whether you list abstracts or not, but many programs use total number of publications for screening, so you may want to include abstracts for that reason.
HTH!
That's dumb. Put everything down they'll figure it out
