Tumor Neurosurgery
#11
What about all the other MGH tumor surgeons (Barker, Cahill, Nahed, Jones)? Are they all just super-sub-specialized within tumors?

Of the Harvard programs, bwh has a glioma guy.  Who does tumors at mgh?

Please never use BWH in the same sentence as MGH with regards to neurosurgery unless you're talking skull base.

I think we can all agree BWH and MGH are not what they used to be.

need someone like martuza back. could have had someone like curry, Kalkanis, Fahed or Aghi as chair. someone who trained directly under martuza and wasnt tarnished by becoming chair at a suboptimal program

Didn't Carter train under Martuza?

Brigham has fallen considerably, not as a neurosurgical service but as a training program. God knows why that program is still in doximity top 20, although those aren't all encompassing rankings. If you're going to train at a malignant program might as well go to Hopkins or UVA. MGH is still a research powerhouse that trains academic superstars. Without a doubt a top 10 program. Carter will do a good job as chair, and it will continue to be the flagship Harvard program.

They certainly are not in Boston as of late.
