Step 2 Scores
#1
Did any programs require/suggest that you to have Step 2 scores in by the time of interview?

I have a good step 1 score so i've been told to put it off until October-ish. Has anyone run into any trouble doing that?

My advice (for whatever it's worth) is that you take it at a time that is convenient for you and that you won't run into issues with graduation or the possibility of needing to take it again (although if your step 1 was good it's probably likely your step 2CK will be too).  Step 2 CK scores are lower on the list of things that residencies seem to look at if you look at the reports from NBME.  If you don't have a score posted but the rest of your app looks good it likely won't hurt you.  If you do take it early enough and have a score it'll just be another thing that a program doesn't have to worry about and would make you look safer than someone who hasn't taken it.

I had an average step 1 for matched neurosurgery applicants and took my step 2CK in July because that's how it worked best with my schedule to have a couple of weeks to study for it.  Ended up getting one point higher than my step 1.  Don't think it mattered too much in the interview/matching process.  I matched at my number 1 choice which happened to be at a place where I sub-I'd.

*Edit: NRMP charting outcomes not NBME lol

My step 2 score was a couple of points higher than my step 1. No one mentioned it. I matched to my 2nd choice.
