NYMC
#1
Can anyone comment on NYMC, based on sub-I or being a student. There were few
Faculty/residents available on my interview day, so it was hard to assess.

I have heard from a few people that the program is very malignant, however, who knows what to believe these days.

Recent-ish NYMC alum. Not malignant by any stretch, but there have definitely been some personalities there (faculty and residents) which are not atypical in neurosurgery generally but which are magnified by the small size of the program. I think it has been changing for the better. I remember it as a very private practice-oriented program but it seems like they're trying to get more academic. They did almost no research but I guess the new chair and PD are ambitious in that regard and it seems like they've hired multiple faculty in the last couple years.
