M4. Sub-I's lined up this summer, taking 2CK soon.
If I'm not confident I can score 240-245+ based on practice tests, is it worth delaying the test + taking a research year? If so, should scheduled Sub-I's be completed this year or done the following year?
What score would you strongly consider taking a research/gap year?
At a high tier MD school, decent number of clinical papers and decent clinical grades, willing to go anywhere.
thanks

| Call Frequency as an Attending |

Couple questions about call as an attending.
How often do attendings have to come in when on call? How does this vary with pediatrics?
Does the type of call or the cases seen on call vary based on subspecialty (pediatrics excluded)? For example, will a functional neurosurgeon be expected to cover trauma/etc?
Does call coverage vary based on how research prolific someone is? I noticed this trend when looking at my departments call schedule.
Thank you

| How are clinical vs. basic sci pubs viewed? And better to prioritize 1st author? |

Hi, there are a couple labs I'm looking at. One can give me a few 1st author clinical pubs e.g. 3-5 and a maybe like 5 co-authors on mostly clinical, maybe 1 basic sci or translational.
Another can give like 1 very good basic sci pub, and a few co author on clinical pubs or basic sci.
The last lab just cranks out a bunch of clinical pubs, so like 20+, but they would all be co-authors, maybe 1-2 first author

Anyone know of any PGY3 spots? Just stuck in a toxic program. When the workplace dynamics are more stressful than the job… maybe it’s time to move.
Just to clarify, any future PGY3 spots (currently pgy2)

if home program and two subI's are all in different geographic regions, will that help prevent geographic bias for interviews later? will the regions you dont subI consider you, or do you limit yourself to the regions you do subI?
