  Basic question about call
Posted by: Guest - 09-11-2020, 11:12 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

I’m a premed on my gap year with a growing interest in NSGY and had a basic question on how call works for neurosurgeons: who gets cranial call, and what kind of call do you get depending on your subspecialty? Do functional surgeons have to take cranial call?

  How are Cureus papers viewed?
Posted by: donut2023 - 09-10-2020, 09:24 PM - Forum: General interest - Replies (7)

Can a Cureus paper hurt a residency application? e.g. shows a paper is so low impact it couldn't get published elsewhere

Is it worth it to let a paper die or submit to Cureus?

Curious to hear thoughts.

How many programs are transitioning to PGY7 year being elective time to satisfy CAST fellowships (6+1 model)?

Where can we find a list of these programs, both current and transitioning?

  Camraderie among residents?
Posted by: Guest - 09-04-2020, 12:22 PM - Forum: General resident issues - Replies (4)

I saw a recent thread here saying that every resident "breaks" sometime during residency. This is not surprising, but do residents form a sort of bond among each other as a result? One would think that residency would be a lot more difficult if coresidents are not close.

After residency, do residents remain close?

How important is it to save money during residency
Posted by: Guest - 09-03-2020, 09:33 PM - Forum: General resident issues - Replies (12)

I generally understand the benefits of putting money into a Roth IRA or 401k in terms of long term wealth development and growth. I am able to save some money during residency but based my understanding of what attendings salaries can be in both private practice and an academic setting how much of a difference does this make in the long term once you are making an attending salary.
